About Us

Welcome to the Rochester, NY local section of the American Chemical Society and NERM 2012.  We are very proud to welcome all participants to the 2012 Northeast Regional Meeting.  2012 is a special date for the Rochester section since we will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary.  Everyone is invited to a free ice cream social on Tuesday afternoon, October 2, 2012.  Pictures and items of interest over the last 100 years will be on display.

The Rochester Section serves Monroe, Orleans, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, and Wayne counties in upstate New York.  There are currently over 900 members of the section, many of whom work for employers such as Eastman Kodak, Xerox, Bausch & Lomb, and the University of Rochester.

The Section is also the home of the prestigious Harrison Howe Award, presented annually to a scientist with an outstanding record of accomplishment and who holds great promise for further achievement.  The Harrison Howe winner for 2012 will be recognized on Tuesday, October 2 at NERM 2012 with an afternoon symposium, evening banquet and presentation by the award winner.

The Rochester Section is one of the most active ACS local sections, and sponsors a wide variety of professional, educational, and outreach activities for the benefit of its members and the general public.
